The Motley Menagerie is a wonderful quaint Tea Room nestled near west downtown Kyle, Texas. Created in one of Kyle's oldest historic homes, the house was built in 1905 making it over 100 years old!
The Motley Menagerie is a tea room and much more. Along with our fabulous homemade menu items such as delicious soups, sandwiches, quiches, salads and desserts customers claim are addictive, The Motley Menagerie is also a shopping destination of affordable and interesting finds. So come on down have a healthy meal and do some quick shopping all in one stop.
About Us:
Darleen Motley is the proud owner of The Motley Menagerie and purchased the beautiful old home on 602 West Center Street in August of 2003 and immediately began remodeling and repainting.
Darleen is from Laredo, Texas. Darleen's mother was born in Monterrey Mexico. Her father was born in Bunkie, Louisiana. Darleen's mixed background influenced the colors and taste combination that is quite unique at The Motley Menagerie. back to top
The Home:
The home at 602 West Center Street was built in 1905…over 100 years old! There is a proud heritage that surrounds the house. Many of the locals have shared stories of living in the home and the changes it has gone through. back to top
The Food:
The food at The Motley Menagerie is all home made. The menu includes delicious sandwiches of chicken salad, tuna, pimento, deli ham, turkey and roast beef all made on home made bread. Come try the many combinations of teas and coffees with one of the mouth watering desserts of the day. back to top
The Tea Room:
The Tea Room is a soothing place to sit and sip a variety of teas or coffee and chat with your family and friends. Families of all ages are welcomed (high chairs are available). Call and find out about High Tea and the delicious scones offered. Reservations are accepted for tea parties for all ages. back to top
The Other Rooms:
The other/back rooms contain a shoppers delight. Full of collectibles, antiques, vintage and high end resale clothing. Very quaint and so perfect to eat and shop. back to top
The Patio/Deck:
The Patio/Deck is a wonderful out door sitting area under tall shady pecan trees. Folks seem to enjoy this area for a lunch or Friday night dinner. Often live music is played in this area and because of wireless capabilities, many folks work on their laptops while enjoying meals, music and drinks. This outdoor area is available for bookings for all special occasions. back to top
